The Model:

Introduced in 1971, the R107 SL ushered in a new era of design and safety features for Mercedes-Benz, and was one of the longest-produced models in the company’s history, remaining in production until 1989. For the first time, the SL range was offered with V8 power, and this 350 SL features the 3.5-litre unit producing around 197–200 bhp, paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. Performance figures remain impressive for the period, with a top speed of around 130 mph and 0–60 mph in approximately 8.8 seconds.
