A smart example of the desirable R107-series Mercedes-Benz 350 SL, this 1976 car is finished in Signal Red over a newly retrimmed Beige leather interior, complete with its factory hardtop.
Accompanied by a good history file, this 350 SL comes with MOT certificates dating back to 1984 as well as numerous invoices for servicing and repairs. In the current ownership of The Vendor for the last three years, the car has benefited from recent professional attention, including the welding of new floor pans to both the offside and nearside. A service was carried out in 2022 at a cost of £897.50, and invoices on file document further maintenance over the years.
Introduced in 1971, the R107 SL ushered in a new era of design and safety features for Mercedes-Benz, and was one of the longest-produced models in the company’s history, remaining in production until 1989. For the first time, the SL range was offered with V8 power, and this 350 SL features the 3.5-litre unit producing around 197–200 bhp, paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. Performance figures remain impressive for the period, with a top speed of around 130 mph and 0–60 mph in approximately 8.8 seconds. Just 15,304 examples of the 350 SL variant were built from a total of 237,287 R107s produced overall.
With its appealing specification, solid presentation and good supporting history, this 350 SL represents an attractive opportunity to acquire a usable and stylish classic Mercedes-Benz roadster.
