On the Surface:

This 1989 Porsche 944 is a good example of Porsche’s mid-level sports car offering from the 1980s, presented in Alpine White over a Marine Blue leatherette interior with multicolour cloth inserts.

Maintenance & History:

Owned by The Vendor for the past six years, this car is supplied with an extensive history file. This 944 comes with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and a detailed account of its provenance. The documentation spans from its original delivery and first oil change in 1989 through maintenance milestones across the years up to a cambelt and filter change in 2018. Supporting paperwork includes MOT certificates dating back to 1993 and a wealth of invoices covering servicing and care. In June 2024, the car benefited from a comprehensive mechanical refresh, including the replacement of all belts and the cambelt. The fuel system was also overhauled with new fuel hoses, filter, and fuel pump. Underside preservation was addressed with a full wax underseal treatment, and inner seals were renewed—ensuring protection and peace of mind for the next custodian.

The Model:

Produced from 1982 to 1991, the Porsche 944 was a front-engined, rear-wheel drive evolution of the 924 and was offered in both coupé and cabriolet forms with naturally aspirated or turbocharged engines. In early 1989, Porsche introduced an upprated 2.7-litre four-cylinder engine which improved torque and delivered 163 BHP—up from the previous 2.5-litre unit’s 158 BHP. This made the '89 model a significant step forward, just prior to the launch of the 944 S2. With over 163,000 units produced, the 944 was Porsche’s best-selling model at the time.

Sale Insight:

Well-maintained and increasingly sought after, the Porsche 944 continues to gain recognition as a usable and appreciating classic. This particular example stands out for its strong maintenance record and great provenance—making it an attractive prospect for enthusiasts seeking both driving enjoyment and long-term value.
