Finished in elegant Midnight Pearl Blue over a Beige leather interior, this 1993 TVR Chimaera 430 presents as a good example of the rarer 4.3-litre variant which was originally supplied by Nigel Mansell Sports Cars of Blandford, Dorset.
In the current ownership for the past 25 years, The Vendor purchased the car in 2000 for £14,850. With just three former keepers prior, this example has enjoyed long-term custodianship and comes with a detailed history file including numerous invoices, historic MOT certificates, and documentation supporting the genuine mileage of 66,542. Having spent a number of years in storage, the car has recently benefitted from recommissioning works costing over £3,000. The 4.3-litre V8 has also received the sought-after 'Big Valve' conversion—a popular upgrade among enthusiasts.
Introduced in 1992 and intended as a more touring-oriented alternative to the TVR Griffith, the Chimaera offered a blend of comfort and exhilarating performance. Built on a backbone chassis and powered by Rover V8 engines, the 4.3-litre version produced 280 BHP—capable of 0–60 mph in just 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 158 mph. Its open-top layout, spacious cockpit and distinct styling made it one of TVR’s most successful models. The Chimaera was succeeded by the Tamora in 2002.
A desirable and well-maintained example of the rarer 4.3 Chimaera. With it's low ownership, recent recommissioning and the respected 'Big Valve' conversion already in place, it offers a compelling opportunity for enthusiasts seeking a powerful and characterful British sports car.
