On the Surface:

A great example of an Austin A35 Van with a Countryman escque conversion, this car presents beautifully in blue with a cloth interior. Originally a 6 CWT panel van, it has been thoughtfully converted to mimic the more practical A35 Countryman, with rear side panels modified to accommodate windows. Its clean presentation and period-correct appearance are enhanced by a 2013 full respray following comprehensive restoration work completed in 2010.

Maintenance & History:

In The Vendor's family since 1991 and showing just four former keepers, this A35 has been a well-loved companion for European road trips and family holidays. This A35 has been tastefully upgraded for improved drivability without straying from its roots. The original 848cc engine has been replaced with a more robust 1098cc unit (the original engine is included and available if desired). Stopping power has been improved with MG Midget disc brakes and uprated front shock absorbers. Modern Metro front seats offer greater comfort and adjustability, while front and rear seatbelts have been added for enhanced safety. The car is accompanied by a detailed history file including invoices, MOT certificates, wiring diagrams, tax discs, and photographs of the restoration process.

The Model:

Produced between 1956 and 1968, the Austin A35 was designed as a compact, affordable family car with variants including saloons, vans, and estates. Approximately 280,897 examples were built. The van version was a favourite among tradesmen, but this example has been converted to liken the Countryman estate variant which offers increased practicality and appeal for everyday or leisure use.

Sale Insight:

This unique and well-maintained A35 Van Conversion offers a rare opportunity to own a classic British vehicle with modernised usability, backed by over three decades of single-family ownership.
