A smart example of the ever-popular MG MGF, finished in striking Solar Red with a Black soft top and a Black half leather interior. The car presents well overall, with both the interior and hood in very good condition, though the bodywork would benefit from some attention to take it to the next level. The soft top is fitted with a glass rear window, and the car sits on a matching set of Toyo Proxes TR1 tyres. A removable boot-mounted luggage rack and a breathable tailored-fit car cover are included in the sale.
Owned by The Vendor for the past five years, this MGF comes with a well-documented history file containing old MOTs, invoices, and the original MG bookpack. The bookpack includes both the Owner’s Handbook and Service Book, with the latter showing six service stamps and two handwritten entries. Recorded services span from 2000 at 2,842 miles through to 2021 at 75,900 miles. The car has been fitted with stainless underbody coolant pipes, a common and desirable upgrade for these models.
The MG F was the first all-new MG since the MGB (1962–1980), launched in the autumn of 1995 by the Rover Group, shortly after BMW’s takeover. Powered by the lively 1.8-litre K-Series 16-valve engine, the model underwent a facelift in 1999, gaining a revised interior, subtle styling tweaks and fresh alloy wheel designs. Competing against the Mazda MX-5, BMW Z3 and Audi TT, the MG F proved hugely popular, becoming Britain’s best-selling convertible, with a total production run of 77,269 cars.
A nicely specified MGF that has clearly been cared for, this example offers the next custodian the opportunity to improve the cosmetics while enjoying a mechanically sound and highly usable modern classic.
