On the Surface:

A very attractive and restored example of the Mk VIII Hillman Minx Convertible, this car is finished in a two-tone combination of White and Blue, complemented by a Beige soft top and a Baby Blue interior.

Maintenance & History:

Manufactured in 1958, the car was supplied new to South Africa where it remained for the first 20 years of its life. In 1978 it was imported to the UK, where it has resided ever since. Its time in a dry climate likely contributed to its well-preserved condition prior to restoration. The Vendor has owned the car for the last 8 years and this Minx has benefited from a full restoration. Included in the history file are an original Hillman Minx Owner’s Handbook and a Haynes Workshop Manual.

The Model:

The Hillman Minx was one of the most recognisable British mid-sized family cars of its era, produced by the Rootes Group from 1931 to 1970. The Mk VIII was part of the final pre-Audax generation and came equipped with the newly introduced 1390cc OHV engine—later used in the Audax series from 1956. These cars were the backbone of Rootes’ success in the 1950s and were also sold under other marques such as Singer and Sunbeam. The convertible variant is a particularly desirable and less common body style.

Sale Insight:

This Mk VIII Hillman Minx Convertible comes to market in attractive restored condition and long-term UK ownership. An excellent candidate for summer shows or leisurely classic motoring.
