Presented here is a tidy example of a 1989 Austin Mini Sky Rose Cabriolet Conversion. Finished in White with a Light Grey soft top, it retains much of its original character with Light Grey half-leather interior and the distinctive Pink and Blue “Crayons” fabric inserts—unique to the limited edition Rose model. The exterior features grey wheel arches, bumpers, and grille, along with the correct Rose coachlines and logo.
This example began life as one of the 500 Mini 'Rose' models—part of the 1,000 car limited-run Sky and Rose editions produced in 1989. It is understood that the first lady owner took the car directly from the showroom for a professional cabriolet conversion, which included the fitting of a roll bar and additional reinforcement to the hood structure. The car spent more than half its life off the road and in dry storage. Acquired by the previous owner in 2017, it was only recommissioned and returned to the road in 2024. This Mini underwent a full restoration approximately five years ago, which included a professional respray and thorough mechanical attention to the engine and braking systems. Most recently, the car benefitted from a mechanical overhaul by renowned Mini specialist Paul Higgs Cars in Juen 2025. It is offered with a current MOT valid through to March 2026, indicating it is in roadworthy condition and ready to enjoy.
The Austin Mini Sky Rose was a special edition based on the Mini City. Only 1,000 were produced in total—split evenly between the ‘Sky’ and ‘Rose’ variants. All ‘Rose’ models were finished in White with a Pink roof and grey exterior trim, paired with the vibrant “Crayons” interior.
This is a rare opportunity to acquire a genuine limited edition Mini Rose with a professional cabriolet conversion completed. Retaining its original interior, accompanied by the original handbook and benefitting from both a recent specialist mechanical overhaul and a prior full restoration, this charming Mini is ideal for collectors or enthusiasts seeking something genuinely unique and ready to enjoy.
