A fine example of the 4.0-litre Jaguar XK8 Coupe, finished in Carnival Red over an Oatmeal leather interior. The car presents with just four former keepers and has been in the care of The Vendor for the past 19 years, reflecting long-term, cherished ownership.
The car comes with a particularly strong history file, which includes: an excerpt from its advertisement in the Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club Magazine (October 2023), a period Jaguar XK8 brochure with enclosed sales information, the purchase invoice from 2006 when The Vendor acquired the car from Webbers Jaguar of Basingstoke for £14,500 and a selection of maintenance invoices. Also included are the aforementioned two leatherbound Jaguar handbook folders, containing the Vehicle Care book, International Dealership Directory, Total Car Handbook, In-Car Telephone booklet, Sound System booklet, Driver’s Handbook, and the Service Record and Warranty guide. The car’s service documentation is especially impressive. Within the Service Record and Warranty guide are 21 stamps for servicing and inspections, covering mileage from 9,850 in 1998 through to 98,335 in 2024. The most recent service was completed in 2024, less than 150 miles ago. Further invoices for servicing and maintenance are also included in the file.
Launched in 1996 under project code X100, the Jaguar XK8 was the first of a new generation of grand tourers. Available as either a two-door coupé or convertible, the XK8 was powered by Jaguar’s new 4.0-litre AJ-V8 engine. In 1998, the model delivered 290 bhp, enabling 0–60 mph in around 6.5 seconds, with an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph. Blending performance and luxury the XK8 quickly became a benchmark for modern grand touring, boasting an all-leather interior enhanced with burl walnut trim.
This Carnival Red example offers both provenance and presentation, making it a strong candidate for enthusiasts. With nearly two decades in single ownership and a comprehensive service record, it represents an opportunity to acquire a well-documented, well-maintained XK8 Coupe.
