In Brief:

  • Desirable ‘F1-style’ CambioCorsa paddle-shift gearbox
  • Genuine 59,000 miles from new
  • Strong history file, including stamped service book and invoices

Auctioneer’s Notes:

Returning to us once again, this 2005 Maserati 4200 Coupé represents an appealing example of the Tipo M138 generation. Finished in Black over a Black leather interior with contrasting Red leather inserts, it offers a purposeful yet elegant appearance befitting Maserati’s grand touring heritage. The car has been with the current registered keeper for the last three years, during which it has seen light use, covering approximately 2,000 miles in that time.

Maintenance & Condition:

This 4200 Coupé presents very well throughout, with both the exterior and interior appearing smart and well cared for. The accompanying paperwork records around £6,000 of maintenance and upkeep, supporting the impression of considered ownership. Of particular note is rustproofing treatment carried out in July 2023 at a cost of £474.10. The cabin remains in good order, with the Black and Red leather combination giving the car a suitably sporting feel.

History:

The Maserati is offered with a well-organised history file, including the original leather-bound Maserati bookpack, MOT certificates and a selection of invoices. The bookpack contains the Owner’s Manual, Info Centre handbook, Sales & Service handbook, Customisation Items booklet, Maserati Assistance Handbook and the stamped Service Book. The Service Book records 6 service stamps, beginning in 2007 at 6,215 miles and continuing through to 2023 at 56,878 miles.

The Model:

Produced from 2001 to 2007, the Maserati Coupé, internally known as the Tipo M138, succeeded the 3200 GT and brought with it a number of important mechanical developments. At its heart is the Ferrari-derived 4.2-litre naturally aspirated V8, delivering the performance, soundtrack and character expected of a modern Maserati GT. This example is equipped with the CambioCorsa transmission, an F1-inspired automated manual gearbox with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shift, developed by Graziano Trasmissioni and closely related in concept to contemporary Ferrari systems.

Sale Insight:

With attractive mileage, a strong history file and desirable specification, this 4200 CambioCorsa Coupé offers a compelling route into Ferrari-engined Maserati ownership. A charismatic modern classic with true grand touring credentials.
