These rules apply to employees, customers, visitors and contractors while on the SWVA site. They support the Health & Safety Policy and the site's risk-control arrangements.

·       Follow instructions given by SWVA managers, supervisors, yard staff and marshals.

·       Observe posted site speed limits, vehicle routes and traffic controls. Drive slowly and with particular care where pedestrians are present.

·       Use designated pedestrian routes where provided and remain alert to moving vehicles in operational areas.

·       Wear high-visibility clothing and any other PPE required for the area or activity.

·       Do not use a mobile phone while driving or manoeuvring a vehicle.

·       Only authorised and competent persons may move vehicles or operate machinery or equipment.

·       Keep pedestrian routes, fire exits, emergency access routes and fire points clear.

·       Park vehicles safely and do not obstruct emergency routes, pedestrian access or operational areas.

·       Report hazards, defects, spills, accidents, incidents and near misses promptly to SWVA staff.

·       Smoke or vape only in designated areas.

·       Do not attend work or undertake safety-critical activity while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

·       Do not enter restricted operational, vehicle movement, loading or unloading areas unless authorised.

·       Children under the age of 10 are not permitted to attend auctions at the SWVA site. Children aged 10 and over must remain under the supervision of a responsible adult, follow site rules and staff instructions, and be kept clear of operational vehicle movement areas.

·       On auction days, follow staff instructions when vehicles are being moved and do not obstruct access routes or emergency exits.

·       In an emergency, follow SWVA staff instructions and the site's fire and evacuation arrangements.

Failure to follow site safety rules may result in access to an area being restricted or, where necessary, a person being required to leave the site.
