Auctioneer's Notes:

A notably original 1986 Ford Capri 2.8 Injection, finished in attractive Metallic Paris Blue over Stratos Silver and showing 68,137 miles. Remarkably, the Capri has had just one keeper from new, having reportedly spent much of its life in garage storage. It retains its distinctive Injection graphics, alloy wheels and period interior, presenting as an appealing and largely unmolested example of Ford's enduring performance coupé.

Maintenance & Condition:

The Vendor advises that the 2.8-litre V6 engine remains entirely original and has never been rebuilt or opened, while the car is equipped with the correct five-speed manual gearbox. The alloy wheels are reported to remain in good condition, with the original spare wheel retained in the boot. The original upholstery has also survived well overall, although there is some wear to the driver's seat bolster commensurate with age and use.

The Vendor notes that the brakes may require some attention. Although now MOT exempt on age, the Capri currently holds an MOT certificate valid until the day after the auction.

History:

The accompanying service book contains an impressive 22 stamps, beginning in 1986 at 1,280 miles and continuing through to 2001 at 60,841 miles. Online MOT records provide further support for the current low mileage, recording 63,902 miles in 2006 and progressing gradually to 68,001 miles in 2025, closely corresponding with the 68,137 miles presently displayed.

The history file also includes the original operation and care literature, together with a collection of immobiliser certificates and cards. These record the installation of an immobiliser in 1992 and its subsequent replacement in 1993. A selection of replacement bulbs is also included.

The Model:

The Capri 2.8 Injection represented one of the most desirable versions of Ford's long-running sporting coupé. Its 2,792cc Cologne V6, equipped with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection, produced approximately 158bhp, driving the rear wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox. Power-assisted steering, sports suspension, front disc brakes and distinctive alloy wheels complemented the performance package, while the characteristic long bonnet and fastback profile ensured the Capri remained instantly recognisable.

By 1986 the Capri was approaching the end of production, making surviving late examples particularly evocative of the model's final years.
