Auctioneer's Notes:

A remarkably well-preserved 1988 Ford Fiesta Ghia Mk2, powered by the 1.1-litre engine with manual transmission and presented in desirable three-door form. Having covered just 16,807 miles from new and with only two owners, this is an unusually original surviving example of Ford's higher-specification Ghia model. The Vendor advises that the Fiesta has been garaged from new, retaining its original trim, upholstery and radio, with the interior described as being in particularly impressive condition. The car is being offered by the Vendor on behalf of her late father, the current registered keeper.

Maintenance & Condition:

The Fiesta has seen exceptionally light use throughout its life and has been stored off the road under SORN in a garage since 2012, with the battery removed during storage. Its accompanying service documentation provides useful supporting evidence for the remarkably low recorded mileage. Prior to being laid up, invoices show MOT testing and full servicing being carried out. Having been stored for an extended period, appropriate recommissioning and checks should naturally be anticipated before returning the vehicle to regular road use.

History:

The paperwork is particularly pleasing and includes the original owner's handbook, dealer directory, accident repair guide, audio booklet and service documentation. The service book contains four stamps, while the accompanying warranty booklet records a further 11 stamped entries. A selection of earlier MOT certificates and invoices is also present.

The Model:

Introduced in 1983, the Mk2 Fiesta developed Ford's highly successful original supermini with revised styling, improved refinement and an expanded range of trim and engine choices. The Ghia sat towards the top of the range and offered a notably more upmarket specification than more basic Fiesta models, with additional exterior detailing and a better-appointed cabin.

This example is fitted with the economical 1.1-litre Valencia engine and manual transmission. Combining compact dimensions, straightforward mechanicals and comfortable Ghia specification, the Mk2 Fiesta became a familiar sight on British roads during the 1980s, making original and lightly used survivors increasingly notable today.
